Policies in doctoral education in times of geopolitical change and technological acceleration
The presentation focuses on the second report of the 2025 EUA-CDE Survey, published in January 2026. It covers a wide range of institutional and European policies that have gained importance for doctoral education in recent years. In particular, it offers insights into topics such as academic freedom in doctoral education, research security, collaboration with society, and the use of AI by doctoral candidates. The report also includes insights into doctoral education leaders’ perspectives on the reform of research assessment and research careers, as well as on European education, research, and innovation programmes, such as Horizon Europe and Erasmus+.
